Art, Architecture and Andalusia

Art, Architecture, Archaeology and much more, attract tourists throughout the year to Andalusia. Be it fun in the sun or adventure sport and skiing, this is a haven for nature lovers as well as fun seekers. But the winners are the historians and students who are benefited with a view into 3000 years of history.

From centuries Andalusia has given shelter to different civilizations such as Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Phoenicians. All of them leaving behind traces of culture, art and architecture. The influence of Romans can be seen in the sculpture, pottery, mansions of the villages in Seville, Cadiz and Cordoba. If you are lucky maybe the Andalucía villa you stay at could be in the neighborhood of a 1st century settlement. The Arab supremacy can be seen in the Mosque and other buildings at Cordoba.

The layout of streets of the old towns also has an Arab tinge to it. Andalucía is a treasure trove of art which includes Medieval, Renaissance and Modern. It has its share of famous painters in all the different forms of art but the Universal Great amongst them is Pablo Picasso. There is also a museum in Malaga, (birthplace of Picasso) which showcases a compiled collection of Picasso’s work, which consists of commentaries, one line drawings and his painting.

Another heritage site is the white washed villages of Andalusia wherein people still follow Roman, Iberian and Moorish customs and traditions. You can very well be part of it and experience their lifestyle when you live in Andalusian villa in the heart of the village.
